Like many passions we may embrace in life, they often start in the most serendipitous way. Over time, they are nurtured and grow into an all encompassing desire so much so that others can sense our fire.
Founder of Robert Novak Jewels, Robert Novak gives us a peek into the route his interest took to becoming an expert gemstone retailer. “When I was 3 years old, I was mesmerized by my grandmother's jewelry. Those large brooches sparkled with different colors and intriguing shapes. And every time I would visit, I went straight to her jewelry box. Even though I had seen the same pieces a hundred times, each time I could see something different and unique in them.”
Building on this fascination with all things gemmy, he took a gemology class and was hooked. “All the optical, physical, and chemical properties found in gemstones are truly the work of mother nature at her best. In 2013, I began watching gem programs on tv and devoured every book I could get my hands on about gemstones and jewelry. The more I learned, the greater my fascination became about this 'sparkling' gem world. In 2014 I took a ring making course at a local jewelry academy and made that first ring! At that moment I realized that my strong passion for gemology and jewelry took flight. In 2015 I enrolled at GIA (Gemological Institute of America) to become a graduate gemologist. “
Robert Novak Jewels pays homage to his grandparents, Velma and Edmund Novak who were instrumental in his upbringing and became cherished parental figures throughout his life until their passing.
